Waste from sewage cleaning under 20 03 06
WM3 lists 20 03 06 for waste from sewage cleaning as an absolute non-hazardous entry. It is a source-based description, not a general code for anything collected by jetting, vacuum or other drainage-cleaning equipment.
Industrial drainage systems, oil-water separators and treatment processes can produce wastes with different List of Waste entries. The collection equipment does not determine the classification.
Drainage source and waste description
The drainage system, its normal inputs and the work that produced the recovered material provide the basis for the waste description. Where cleaning covers several assets or produces distinct fractions, those wastes may need to remain separately identifiable.
A description such as dirty water says little about the source or composition. Unusual chemicals, recent spills or industrial inputs can materially change the position and should be included in the source information.
Classification and site hazards
An absolute non-hazardous entry does not mean sewage-contaminated material is harmless to workers. Biological exposure and confined-space hazards are separate from the waste-code decision and need their own controls.
Code 20 03 04 describes septic tank sludge. Neither entry should be chosen solely because a material looks or smells like sewage; the source activity and official description still have to fit.
Collection and transfer records
The waste description, quantity, carrier and receiving facility should be recorded in the form required by the relevant jurisdiction. If the source does not fit sewage cleaning, another List of Waste entry may need to be considered before the material is moved.
