WM3 lists 13 05 07* for oily water from oil-water separators and identifies it as an absolute hazardous entry. It is tied to that source and should not be used as a general code for any water that happens to contain oil.
Servicing a separator can produce more than one waste fraction. WM3 lists separate entries for solids, sludge, oil, oily water and mixtures from oil-water separators, so the description should match the material actually removed.
Separator source and recent site history
The separator, the catchment it serves and the activities in that area help explain how the oily water arose and what else may be present. Recent spills or changes in fuels, chemicals or site operations can alter the composition of the waste.
A separator’s nominal capacity does not tell you how much waste was removed or what the oily water contains. Maintenance records, previous collections and analytical information, where available, provide better evidence for describing the load.
Hazardous classification and other assessments
